Bartlett Electrix Swim Team (BEST) is a competitive, goal-oriented swim club affiliated with USA Swimming and Illinois Swimming, Inc. The team is driven to develop all levels of swimming and to prepare and challenge each athlete to be their BEST, both physically and mentally. Our goal is to make our swimmers better both in the water and in the community.
BEST’s professional coaching staff is backed by many years of actual swimming experience that provides the BEST training for competitive swimming, including a strong emphasis on proper stroke technique and strength building.
The BEST team is structured to address the various skills of each swimmer... from novice to elite... to ensure proper training techniques and opportunities to advance to the next level:
Our novice level, to include younger swimmers that have not yet achieved the proficiencies in all four competitive swim strokes. The main goal of this group is to gain a better understanding of all four swim strokes, including proper techniques, drills and rules, and to experience team spirit and learn proper sportsmanship.
To include swimmers that can consistently maintain practices of 2,500 to 3,000 yards within a 1.5 to 2-hour period, with a focus on proper stroke techniques for all four competitive swim strokes.
To include swimmers that can consistently maintain practices of 3,500 yards within a 1.5 to 2-hour period, with a focus on refining proper stroke techniques for all four competitive swim strokes, the formation of more structured training sessions, practice etiquette and the development of goals.
To include swimmers that can consistently maintain practices between 4,000 and 4,800 yards within a 2-hour period and successfully achieve a challenge set of 24x100 free @ 1:45. More emphasis is put on training, while continuing stroke refinement and drill techniques.
To include swimmers that can consistently maintain practices between 4,500 and 5,500 yards within a 2-hour period and successfully achieve a challenge set of 30x100 free @ 1:35. More emphasis is put on training, while continuing stroke refinement and drill techniques.
To include siwmmers that can consistently maintain practices of 5,000 to 6,500 yards within a 2-hour period and successfully achieve a challenge set of 45x100’s on the 1:30. A strong emphasis is put on training, drills and stroke refinement.
To include swimmers that can consistently maintain practices of 5,500 to 7,000 yards withing a 2-hour period and successfully achieve a challenge set of 60x100’s on the 1:25. A greater emphasis is put on training as well as high level stroke refinement. At least one early morning practice a week is required of this group.
BEST offers special concessions for those swimmers that participate in their high school programs, due to IHSA rules and regulations. High school swimmers will typically be placed in the Bronze, Silver or Gold groups based on their skill levels.
As a competitive swim team, BEST swimmers are encouraged to participate in as many swim meets as possible throughout the season. Be sure to review the Swim Meet Survival Guide to come prepared.
BEST practices are conducted at the Bartlett Park District, Streamwood Park Place, and Bartlett High School swimming facilities. Each swimmer’s level will determine their practice location.
